The Research and Development for “providing technical/scientific inputs for construction, management, exploration, monitoring, assessment, augmentation and regulation of Sarasvati River and its Heritage.
1. The study on estimation of water balance components in the Sarasvati River catchment was carried out by Regional Remote Sensing Center-West, NRSC, ISRO, Jodhpur as it will be helpful for planning and development of Sarasvati Rejuvenation project.
2. A web –based GIS portal on ‘Sarasvati Palaeochannels of NW India’ for disseminating the wealth of Information of Sarasvati River among the stakeholder as well as researchers and general public of Indian country was developed by ISRO, RRSC-W (NRSC/ISRO), Jodhpur.
3. hydrological aspects of the Project report prepared by HSHDB for the construction of Dam at Adi Badri, and balancing reservoir in the downstream so as to capture the spills from the Adi Badri reservoir and maintain the controlled flow in the downstream River section to develop the heritage of River Sarasvati. In this light, the NIH was carried out analysis of the proposed balancing reservoir and estimates its capacity that can meet/manage the desired flow in the downstream River. The final report was submitted in the year 2018.
4. Drilling and Construction of 10 nos. bore wells up to 500 meter depth below ground level. The activities involved are collection of samples, preparation of drill time log and electrical/Gamma ray logging. At some location of water sample for conducting C14 & Isotope studies and testing of groundwater quality. The project was carried out by ONGC.
5. Geological and Geotechnical investigation for construction of Dam, Barrage and reservoir at Adi Badri was carried out by Geological survey of India (GSI).
6. Comprehensive studies to reconstruct the fluvial History of the Palaeo-course of ancient Sarasvati River System in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat. This project is taken up by GSI and final report is in under process.
